The Railway is also one of the important zones of Indian Railways. The headquarters of railways located in Kolkata. This zone has been divided into two into 4 parts which contain/makes up of Malda, Howrah, Sealdah, and Asansol so that there can be better management and working can be properly controlled. The (creation and construction/ group of objects) of Railways happened by the merger of Railways divisions of Asansol, Sealdah, Howrah and Danapur with Bengal – Nagpur Railway on 14 April 1952.

All the areas that are covered by the Railway are very extremely important for the country, as they strengthen the (process of people making, selling, and buying things) of the country. Besides ministering the most populated wide area of the country, the Eastern Railway deals with the area that is rich in farm-related, industry and minerals. This railway manages the most populated wide area of the country. The 3 chief workshops of Eastern Railway are to be found in Liluah, Jamalpur and Kanchrapara.

In East, the Railways stretch to the Bangladesh border, whereas in the north is spreads to Malda, Lalgola and Kiul. In the south, it stretches to Kakdwip near Ganga Sagar and in the west, the areas are Asansol and Jhajha. The Eastern railways have many high-speed trains to cover long distances so that the rush of long-distance passengers can be well-changed something (to help someone)/took care of someone. The most important train on this route is Rajdhani Express, being the most important one this train was started in the year 1969 between Howrah and Delhi.

It is a fact that the Railway has made most of its suburban routes (made excited/applied electricity too), and some of the routes which are not yet (made excited/applied electricity too), are getting the services of Diesel Multiple Units. The complete starting traffic of this Railway consists of 86 per cent of coal. In Eastern India, the most important Businesses and Power Houses depend upon the coal that has been filled/loaded on the Eastern Railway. The Eastern Railway also does the work of moving (from one place to another) Steel, Iron, Stone, Jute, Cement, Fabric, Tea, Cars etc.
